The federal Liberals have their Thunder Bay-Rainy River candidate in place for the October 21st election.
Marcus Powlowski will be replacing MP Don Rusnak as the party’s candidate and will be taking on Conservative candidate Linda Rydholm and the NDP’s Yuk-Sem Won.
Powlowski feels climate change, the environment and Indigenous issues will be important platforms in the election.
He told party members he didn’t expect to win the nomination.
Powlowski beat out three other nominees at the nomination meeting at the Victoria Inn Monday night.
He thanked the other Liberal hopefuls and told them that they are young and will have other opportunities to run for the party again.
225 votes were cast in the riding for their next candidate.
Powlowski has degrees from Harvard and Georgetown and is a doctor.
