The Dryden Police Service are calling this years Law Enforcement Torch run a huge success.
The run, in support of Special Olympics raised over 7 thousand dollars.
Local Special Olympic athletes who compete in bowling and other community members attended the walk and events Saturday (July 27th) afternoon.
Community Service Officer, Denise Szachury says two community partners added big contributions.
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 63 presented the Dryden Police Service with a cheque of 5 thousand dollars.
Another contributor was Dryden’s Kiwanis Club who gave 5 hundred dollars towards the cause.
Earlier this month, Dryden’s Special Olympics Polar Plunge raised close to 4 thousand dollars making the grand total over 11 thousand dollars.
Szachury says she was blown away by Dryden’s support.
The Dryden Police Service will still accept donations until the end of this week.
All funds raised stay in our area to cover programs, equipment and travel costs.
