Provincial Police are expressing concern with the number of charges and fatalities in Ontario this summer.
More than 1,100 charges have been laid for such things as impaired driving, dangerous driving and street racing since the end of June.
Sergeant Kerry Schmidt says the public has a role to be safer.
“We are out there doing our patrols every single day. We are trying to encourage safe behaviour but again we are enforcing the law when we see unsafe behaviour. Now have your seatbelt on is very important. Slow down, stay safe.
So far, 32 people have died this summer, including 23 on the highways and two in boating mishaps.
There have been five drowning’s reported.
Schmidt says many of the deaths were preventable.
“People not wearing life jackets. People driving aggressively, or distracted or impaired. People not wearing the safety equipment that they should have if their off-road, on a trail on a motorcycle.
