Linzey Melissa Shlachetka was born in The Pas, Manitoba on Tuesday, November 4, 1997 to Debbie and Leonard.
Linzey was a fun-loving mother, daughter, granddaughter, great granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin, Godchild and friend. She was a free spirit with a wild side. “Miss Independent” was headstrong and fiercely strong-willed right from the start. She was born within an hour and a half when she decided she was ready to enter the world.
Linzey loved to spend time with her family and friends. Her love of life was infectious and she made everyone she met feel special. One of her favorite past-times was bonding over games, cards and Bingo. Her quick wit and intelligence made her a fierce competitor. Linzey’s love of cooking made her a great cook who could make gourmet Kraft Dinner. Her artistic skills included rock painting and dancing. She also enjoyed time at the lake and loved to swim.
On November 24, 2013, Linzey was blessed with a precious gift named Olivia. Linzey was a loving and kind mother who loved her daughter deeply and made special memories that will last a life time.
Linzey was diagnosed on August 24, 2017 with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She passed away peacefully at St. Anthony’s Hospital, The Pas, on Monday, July 8, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.
Linzey is survived by her daughter Olivia Debra Shlachetka; mother Debra Ireland (Everett); siblings Tesa, Brita, Alexandra and Ethan; grandparents Corrine and Fred Shlachetka, Doris Shlachetka, Ifka Filipovich and Ralph Ireland, Barb and Albert Rothenberg; her father Leonard Lipscomb (Cathy); sibling Devon; grandparents David Lipscomb (Doreen), Patricia Phillips, Doris Buck; Godparents Wayne King and Karen Thomas; numerous aunties, uncles, cousins and friends.
Linzey was predeceased by numerous family members including her grandmother Beverley Puerto, with whom she will be laid to rest with at Lakeside Cemetery.
