Drilling has started on a piece of land between Ignace and Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation, to determine where to store Canada’s nuclear waste.
The Nuclear Waste Management Organization began drilling what it calls a borehole at the spot last week, in order to collect data leading to a decision on the final chosen spot.
More drilling will start soon on another spot not far from the same area.
Ignace is one of five locations in Ontario, one of which will be selected to store Canada’s nuclear waste deep below the surface.
