The Municipality of Machin has declared a State of Emergency due to Wednesday’s severe rainfall.
The community is reporting flooding and significant damage to a large number of roads.
The municipality has activated its Emergency Operations Centre and is continuing to assess damages.
Mayor Gordon Griffiths is reminding the public to drive with caution and be vigilant as new hazards may emerge over the coming days.
Griffiths says there are numerous road closures and certain areas are inaccessible.
He adds repairs will be made on a priority basis.
Members of the public who require information can call 211, 24/7 as well as monitor the Municipal Facebook page.
Roads Impassable/Closed (all barricaded at this time):
-Roussin Road at the bridge
-Hanslips Road at Crystal Lake
-Minnitaki Road north at bridge
-Masin Road at Shultz Road
-Friendship Drive at Highway 594
-Berglund Road at the halfway point
-Haukness Road off of Eton Rugby (no access to Minnitaki Road North)
Roads Passable but use caution:
-Baptist Road
-South Minnitaki Road
-Temple Road
