Premier Doug Ford has reached out to Saskatchewan for help to host people evacuated from northwestern Ontario communities due to forest fires.
Ford says after a conversation with Premier Scott Moe, Saskatchewan is prepared to take on as many as 2,000 evacuees.
Only Keewaywin and Pikangikum First Nations have evacuated residents as a precautionary move.
Keewaywin residents are staying in Sioux Lookout and Timmins.
Pikangikum residents are being moved to Lac Seul First Nation, Sioux Lookout, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Thunder Bay and Hearst.
However, the full scale evacuation has been hindered by smoke and places to send people.
Flights out of the community are expected Thursday morning, but any travel by road or boat has been halted until further notice.
