Hospitals in northwestern Ontario, including Dryden, Red Lake and Sioux Lookout are moving to a digital world.
They’re now able to share patient records with other Ontario hospitals and doctors on-line.
OntarioMD setup the system and Vice-President Elizabeth Keller says it will improve patient care.
Keller says physicians will receive real time information in order to make the best immediate decision for your level of care.
Keller says the information is also available to physicians at their clinics.
12 hospitals in our region are participating in the program.
Keller says they’re now looking at how to expand to Manitoba where many patients from northwestern Ontario access hospital services.
