The fight against two threatening forest fires in northwestern Ontario continues for the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.
The blaze 8-kilometres away from Keewaywin is now at 71,993 hectares in size.
The First Nation has been evacuated as crews continue to rely on sprinklers to protect property as well as an aggressive ground and air attack.
The fire six kilometres away from Pikangikum is now at 40,439 hectares in size.
Crews are trying to push the blaze away from the First Nation and towards lakes and rivers.
Sprinklers have been setup on the southwest side of the community.
There were three new starts reported yesterday (Monday) in northwestern Ontario.
There are 21 active fires currently burning, five considered not under control.
