The MPP for Kenora-Rainy River insists no teachers are losing their jobs as a result of changes in funding to education.
While the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board was able to avoid cuts to teaching positions, the Rainy River District School Board has revealed 38 positions will be lost due to a loss in funding and enrolment declines.
But, Greg Rickford insists no one will lose their job
Rickford says “Some of this has to be sorted out with the school boards. There will be no cuts. In fact, the education budget was significantly increased and we are protecting the teachers positions with an additional fund.”
He adds he hasn’t heard anything from any one board that teachers will lose their positions.
Rickford notes “we meet regularly to discuss the challenges and opportunities.”
