Andrew Scheer has released his long-awaited climate change plan.
The Conservative leader released details on his 60 page document yesterday afternoon. (Wednesday)
He says a private home owners rebate will be better than a carbon tax credit.
“The concrete numbers that are in this plan include a green home tax credit, that will save Canadians up to $3,800 a year, to invest in things like high efficiency furnaces, in insulation, in double pane windows so they can reduce their energy costs.”
And, he says his plan is better than Justin Trudeau’s climate change tax credit.
“Independent expert analysis have said the Trudeau carbon tax will not get us to those targets, this plan, by investing in technology, not taxes, gives Canada the best chance of hitting those targets.”
Scheer adds his climate plan will save Canadians money, with concrete plans.
“The parliamentary budget officer himself indicated that this kind of approach would reduce Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions by the tune of about 100 mega tonnes, so those are concrete numbers.”
His strategy includes no ban on single-use plastics.
