The 50-Million Tree Program is back.
Kenora MP Bob Nault says following the cancellation of the initiative by the Ford Government, Ottawa made it a priority to spend $15-million to start it up again.
Nault says the money is coming from funds that would have previously gone to the province under the previous Cap and Trade program.
He calls the program “vital to Ontario”, noting “one of the main ways that we can function is to continue to re-plant trees, because it has an affect on carbon.”
Nault stresses Ottawa can’t reverse all cuts made by the Ford government, but they will look at programs important to the environment.
