The Dryden GM Ice Dogs didn’t have to look very far for their first signings of the off-season.
The Ice Dogs have turned to Sioux Lookout and announced the signings of forwards Kendall Schulz and Cortez Favot as well as defenceman Ben Forbes.
Forbes says he can’t wait to bring the winning attitude of the Warriors program to a winning program in Dryden.
He says “the past two seasons are huge for confidence, especially going into a team that wants to be winning. I hate losing, so, I like to win and I’ll do what it takes.”
Forbes notes “it’s pretty exciting just to come out of high school into a league like this and play for a team and it’s so close to home, it will be pretty great, have family and friends come out and support us throughout the year.”
The three have been playing hockey together since they were young kids and are coming off back-to-back high school championships.
Schulz and Favot were 1-2 in NorWOSSA scoring last season, while Forbes led all defencemen in scoring.
Head Coach/General Manager Kurt Walsten says the three bring a winning pedigree to the program and that’s a big reason why he recruited them.
Walsten says they expect to be in the Dudley Hewitt Cup Final every year and the goal is to make the Royal Bank Cup this season.
He says Schultz, Favot and Forbes will help the Ice Dogs get there and notes the trio bring a winning culture into the dressing room.
