A Dryden Eagles High School Football player is getting an opportunity to go up against some of the best young players in Canada.
Grade 9 student Josh Russell has been selected to play for the Under 16 Manitoba Football team this Summer.
That makes Russell one of the top ten Offensive Lineman under the age of 16 in Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario.
Manitoba will represent the region at the main National Tournament being held in Kamloops, B.C.
Eagles Coach Geoff Zilkalns says the selection isn’t easy for someone from here to do, due to the amount of travel needed on weekends in Winnipeg for practices and tryouts.
Zilkalns says Russell is a keen learner, a great kid and has earned his spot on the team.
