The Dryden Eagles fell short in their bid to win a NorWOSSA High School Soccer championship.
The Eagles Boys made it to the Finals on home turf yesterday (Wednesday) but dropped a 2-1 decision to the top seeded Fort Frances Muskies.
Cesare Rosso scored the Eagles lone goal.
Dryden made it to the Gold medal game with a convincing 3-0 win over Beaver Brae.
Cesare Rosso, Evan Waller and Tanner Montgomery found the back of the net, while Dylan Winsor earned the shutout.
In Girls Semi-Final play, the Eagles and Beaver Brae Broncos went to extra time for the fourth time this season.
This game went to a shootout with the Broncos upsetting Dryden 1-0.
Hannah Zilkalns and Kaija Maenpaa scored the shootout goals for the Eagles.
Kenora went on to win Gold with another upset win, 2-1 over Fort Frances.
The Fort Frances Boys and Beaver Brae Broncos Girls will now head to the All-Ontario Finals.
Dryden did earn some individual accolades following the game.
Cesare Rosso was named the Varsity Boys’ league scoring champion this season with six goals.
Brynn Montgomery repeated as Varsity Girls’ champion.
She netted five this season.
