The NDP MPP for the Kiiwetinoong Riding was one of just a few New Democrats who weren’t ejected from the Ontario Legislature during debate on the Efficient Local Government Act.
Most of the NDP caucus was ejected for pounding on their desks during debate.
Sol Mamakwa says its not in his nature to be disruptive.
He says as a first nations person, he’s used to government’s taking away his rights.
Mamakwa says he supports Toronto and voted against the bill.
The legislation, which will cut the size of Toronto’s City Council in half, is expected to receive Royal Assent late this month.
