The Northwestern Health Unit is taking an in-depth look at how they performed over the past year.
The Health Unit has released its 2017 public health report card.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kit Young-Hoon says the report focused on two central themes; health equity and community engagement.
Young-Hoon says last year included a number of highlights.
-The Family Health team had 8,833 interactions with families including 1,737 home visits.
-Facebook posts about tick ID cards reached 12,417 people.
-Almost 900 children received infant hearing screens from the Speech, Hearing and Vision team.
-The Dental Program provided preventative services to 5,146 children.
-The Environmental Health team carried out over 1,100 food safety inspections.
Young-Hoon adds that working with area pharmacies, they saw an 31% increase in flu vaccines administered compared to 2016.
She says they will use the information from the report card to look at where they can improve next year.
