The Morris Mavericks are the 2017 champions of the Dryden High School Dingwall Ford-Goal Post-Best Western Plus Boys Tournament.
Morris defeated the Kildonan East Reivers 4-1 in the championship game Saturday night.
The host Eagles finished an impressive third after defeating the Jh Bruns Collegiate Broncos 2-1 in a shootout.
Jacob Lugli, Evan Armit and Colin Lapointe scored for Dryden, while Jesse Pettinger made some key saves for the win.
The Queen Elizabeth Warriors dropped a 4-2 decision to the St. Paul’s Crusaders in the 5th place game.
The Beaver Brae Broncos outlasted Red Lake 6-5 in the 7th place game.
Organizers of the tournament are calling it a major success with great support from community sponsors.
They include; Discovery Air Fire Services, GSH, Suntrac Contracting and Rentals, Wildwood Contracting, NAPA, Safeway, Extra Foods, Pro Hockey Life, Domino’s, Dingwall Ford and Ho Ho Chinese Restaurant.
