The Federal government wants to ensure marijuana users have all of the facts about the drug when it becomes legal next July.
The Liberals are earmarking more than $36-million on education and awareness campaigns over the next five years.
Health Minister Ginette Petitpas Taylor says young people will be especially targeted, noting Canadian youth are high consumers of cannabis, and they need access to the appropriate information regarding the risks associated with it.
She says there’s a lot of misinformation about marijuana and hopes that will be cleared up through the appropriate campaigns.
Petitpas Taylor tresses it doesn’t mean the government is promoting the use of pot by offering the information.
