Hockey Northwestern Ontario says it made the move away from having young players skating on larger ice surfaces two years ago.
President Glenn Timko says he believes the compliance rate is 100%.
Timko says the branch has been working at giving all minor hockey associations the equipment needed to adjust to the smaller surface.
He says the move, combined with other Hockey Canada-HNO efforts and the Canadian Tire First Shift program, has made a big difference in skills development.
Hockey Canada announced this week players between the ages of four and seven will see rinks divided into two.
