Cecil Tyrone (Ty) Taylor passed peacefully and suddenly on Wednesday July 8, 2015 in the Thunder Bay Hospital. Ty was born in Atikokan, ON on September 7, 1955 to Janeva (Laverdure) and Cecil Taylor. Ty grew up in Upsala ON and developed a knowledge of mechanics and trucking at the family service station. Ty spent many hours working with and learning from his Dad.
Ty attended high school in Thunder Bay and then completed his apprentiship in Heavy Equipment Mechanics. Ty moved to Edmonton in 1978, then on to Winnipeg in 1986, and then into the Rainy River District, living and working in Emo,ON. Settling in Dryden in 2006 at his home on Highway 594, Ty developed an extensive network of friends and coworkers, online gaming friends and extended family. Ty was passionate about caring for his home and property producing the greenest weed free lawn on the road. With the help of his Mom, Ty decorated his yard with beautiful flowerbeds, bird feeders and colourful wind socks.
Ty enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing with his Dad, uncles, and friends. Ty loved cooking, expecially his favorite ham and chili. Ty was a passionate reader with a library of over a thousand books. He connected with friends around the globe through online gaming and Facebook. A favorite has been an evening playing cards, cribbage, dominoes or dice with family and friends. Over the years, Ty shared his home with many feline friends. The cats were always his faithful friends and companions.
Most recently Ty was driving for Gardewine North on the Dryden-Winnipeg route spending most nights on the road navigating between the rock cuts and city streets.
Ty is survived by his mother Janeva Erickson(Dale), Baudette MN, sisters Dawn Marie Wiseman (Alan), Kincardine ON, Susan Taylor (Scott McKim), Winnipeg MB, Janette Gavel(John), Stratton ON, Kaitlyn Mitchell (Kevin), Calgary AB, and many neices,nephews, and great neices and nephews. Ty was predeceased by his father Cecil Taylor (2010), stepmother Kay Taylor (2007) and brother Bradley Taylor (1982), aunts, uncles and grandparents.
Internment will be at the Rainy River Cemetary on Saturday August 8 with a family gathering afterward.
