Francis was born in Sioux Lookout Ontario on October 26th 1940 to Bill and Agnes. He was a pin setter at the bowling lanes in Sioux Lookout. Franny then went to work for Trans Air Limited for a number of years, he also worked for Twin City Refreshments. In 1960 he started for Great Lakes Forest products until he retired in 1997. He came out of retirement for a short time to work for Joe Pitchenese in Wabigoon.
Dad had a great love for the bush; whether hunting, fishing, camping, snow machining or just to be in the outdoors. Dad shared all his loves of life with the loves of his life. His wife and four daughters worked hard alongside him to build their family home and had so much fun doing it. He taught the girls to do firewood, ride sleds, fish, hunt, harvest and anything else he could possibly teach them, he did. Dad was a head full of knowledge and never hesitated to share or guide anyone. He could make you laugh until you cried. Dad could also make you shake your head and walk away laughing or even confused. He always kept people on their toes with his quick wit and smart comments. Never a dull moment at the Roy’s.
Dad had the biggest heart and an even brighter smile. He cherished his family and more so his grandchildren, his great grandson and the excitement of one more on the way.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Franny’s life will be held Saturday July 18th, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Northwoods Motor Inn with Reverend Canon Jeanne Bryan officiating.
