Porter Airlines has been slapped with a $150,000 fine for violations under the government’s new anti-spam law.
The CRTC says the company failed to comply with various requirements of the legislation between July 2014 and April 2015.
Porter allegedly sent some commercial e-mails that did not contain an unsubscribe mechanism.
The country’s telecommunications regulator adds the company also allegedly failed to honour, within 10 business days, requests from some recipients to unsubscribe from receiving future commercial emails.
In addition, for certain emails they were unable to provide proof that they had obtained consent for each electronic address that received its commercial emails.
The CRTC stresses Porter Airlines was cooperative with their probe and immediately took corrective actions to comply with the rules.
