The wait was definitely worth it for Craig Nuttall.
In an election that went well into the morning, Nuttall defeated Greg Wilson and Shayne MacKinnon to win the Mayor’s seat for a second term.
Nuttall says the mandate means that Council has to forge ahead with its infrastructure plan, keep the debt down as well as not increase taxes.
He says the new Council has to understand that “if they do have an agenda they will have to park it at the door”.
Nuttall stresses he wants to work with the new members.
He is promising to work with staff and the Chief Administrative Officer to ensure they remain on track in terms of moving forward.
Nuttall will begin his second term with returning Councillors Mary Trist, Martin MacKinnon and Ken Moss along with Norm Bush, John Carlucci and Roger Valley.
Voter turnout was 60.14%.
