Mrs. Sherry Ann Hughes, age 63 years of Ignace, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Sunday, August 10, 2014 in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, with her family by her side.
Sherry was born on August 1, 1951 in Owen Sound, Ontario. She owned and operated the Ignace Village Mart, with her husband Tom, for 20 years. Sherry’s passions were reading and dogs, however family was her main focus, especially her two grandsons who were the apple of her eyes.
Sherry is survived by her husband of 40 years, Tom; daughter Carolyn Julia and grandsons Landin and Chase; sister Heather (Herb) Tutto of Chestermere, Alberta and brothers Carl (Debbie) Hessel of Hanover, Ontario and John (Kellie) Hessel of Waterloo, Ontario and her father Howard Hessel of Hanover, Ontario. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Phyllisann (Boyd) Woods of Engelhart, Ontario and Sharon (Claire) Elliot of Cobourg, Ontario as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was predeceased by her mother, Julia Hessel (nee Young), brother Kenneth Hessel and son-in-law Roger Martin.
A Memorial Service for the late Mrs. Sherry Hughes will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm at the Silver Tops in Ignace. Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Sherry to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation or the Arthritis Association would be greatly appreciated.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 332 North May Street, Thunder Bay.
