After a lengthy illness, Wesley Edward Schwartz, born in Morden, Manitoba, September 27, 1942, passed away peacefully at the Dryden Regional Hospital August 30, 2014 at the age of 71.
Wesley was pre-deceased by his father, Edward Schwartz, mother Nellie Schwartz, infant brother Wesley and sister Erna & her husband Garnet Lane. Remembered lovingly by wife Gail (28 years); his children Lisa (Cordell), Bradley; step-son’s Darren (Sheila), Leslie (Karen); 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; brothers Joseph (Gail); Donald (Stephanie), Ervin (Maureen), Robert (Sheilagh), Kenneth (Marlene); sister Lorna (Robert). Wesley was close to his many nieces and nephews, especially close to Dana who spent much time with him during his illness.
Wesley’s passion was long haul truck driving, which he began when he was 18 and continued until aged 68. During this time, he worked for Shadow Lines for 28 years. In his retirement, he enjoyed watching TV, and sitting on his deck watching nature. He made lots of friends in the trucking business, which remained true friends.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Dr. Viherjoki and the nurses who cared compassionately for Wesley; also looking after Gail while she was a vigil at his bedside.
Cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at a later date.
If so desired, donations in Wesley’s memory may be made to the Dryden Regional Hospital towards their room renovations project.
