The Annual 'Showcase' Tournament starts today (Friday) in Duluth.
The Dryden Ice Dogs begin play at 10 o'clock against the Iron Range Iron Heads.
The Dogs will then face the SIJHL leading Wisconsin Wilderness Saturday afternoon.
Both games start at 2 o'clock.
Tonight's other Showcase game features Thunder Bay and Wisconsin.

         <title>Charity Dart Tournament to Help Local Child</title>

         <description>
Get ready to throw some darts and help out a local child.
The Children's Wish Foundation 4th Annual Charity Tournament is set for February 11th at the Dryden Legion.
Cyril Ryan is the Chair of the Foundation in Dryden and he appeared on the CKDR Morning Show today. (Thursday)
Ryan says the goal is to raise $5,000.
He has started the challenge by donating $50.
There will also be a silent auction and dance following the Tournament.
All proceeds will help make a local child's dream a reality.</description>

         <title>Dogs Upset Fort Frances</title>

         <description>For the second straight night, the Dryden Ice Dogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead.
This time the Dogs held on for the victory.
Dryden defeated the Fort Frances Lakers 6-4 Wednesday night in SIJHL play.
Diego Breckenridge scored the game winning goal as well as the insurance marker.
Dan Morin, Tom Kuhn, Tyson Holder and Tyler Newsome added singles.
Dean Shepherdson made 26-saves for the win.

The Dryden Ice Dogs look for some home magic tonight. (Wednesday)
The Dogs are back in the friendly confines of the Dryden Memorial Arena against the second place Fort Frances Lakers.
Dryden is 13-5-1 at home this season.
Game time is 7:30.
The game will be played in memory of Tristen Wise.
The 14-year-old died tragically on the weekend after he was struck by a transport on Highway 17.

         <description>Anthony Bonner was the hero as he scored with less than 3 minutes left to give the Sioux Lookout Flyers their first win in nine games.The Flyers clipped the Dryden Ice Dogs 4-3 Tuesday night in Sioux Lookout.The goal was Bonner's first in the SIJHL.Chris Hoffman was the story with 2-goals and 1-assist, while Dane Morin added a single.Bryce Maggrah led Dryden with a pair of markers, while Ian Schachte scored in the third.Dryden outshot the Flyers 37-31.In other action, the Duluth Clydesdales nipped Iron Range 4-3.</description>

CKDR will have the call starting at 7:15.

The most steady player on the Thunder Bay North Stars has been rewarded for his efforts.
Matt Kaarela has been named SIJHL Player of the weekend.
The 19-year-old forward recorded 2-goals and 3-assists in helping the North Stars secure a pair of victories this past week.
Kaarela leads the Stars with 41-points and sits in 10th in League scoring.
Dryden's Bryce Maggrah and Sioux Lookout's Chris Hoffman received honourable mention.</description>

The Dryden Eagles are on a roll.
The Boys High School Hockey team won its third straight, 4-3 Sunday night against the Beaver Brae Broncos in Kenora.
Josh Brunton led the effort with a pair of markers, while Drew Walske and Kirk Markowski.
Justin Oltsher was outstanding making 38-saves to preserve the win.
The Boys are now on their exam break and don't play again until January 27th.

The Peewee 'AA' hockey team captured the Robins Cup in Thunder Bay over the weekend with a 4-0 victory over the top ranked Neebing Hawks in the Final.
The Kings booked their ticket to the Championship with a thrilling shootout win over the KC Sabres in the Semi-Final.
Dryden is now on a two week break.

Despite playing with only 10-skaters the Northern Renegades skated with the top team in the Thunder Bay Junior 'B' Hockey League on Sunday.
The Renegades dropped a 5-1 decision to the Northern Hawks in Eagle Lake.
Curtis Barker stopped 45-shots, while the Gades could only muster 11-shots.
Former Ice Dogs Coach Randy Lulashnick was behind the bench for the Renegades.
Saturday's game between the two teams was cancelled.

         <title>Ice Dogs Fend Off Flyers</title>

         <description>A third period comeback came up just short for Sioux Lookout as the Dryden Ice Dogs pulled out a 4-3 win Saturday night in the SIJHL.
The Dogs held a 4-1 lead in the third period thanks to a pair of goals from Ian Schachte.
Bryce Maggrah and Thomas Greene also scored for Dryden.
The Flyers came back with Chris Hoffman's second of the game as well as a marker from Anthony Wolfe.
Dean Shepherdson made 19-saves for the victory.
Trevor Zangs made 37-saves in a losing cause.
In other SIJHL play on the weekend, the Fort Frances Lakers earned a split south of the border.
The Lakers lost 2-0 in Wisconsin Saturday and bounced back with a 5-4 win over Duluth on Sunday.

The Eagles won 59-40.
Thomas Cooper had 11 points and 10 rebounds for Dryden, while Kevin Gardam recorded 11 points and 9 boards.
The Juniors weren't as forunate, losing in the Consolation Final 43-21.
Brandon Thompson had 5 points for the Eagles.</description>
