Phyllis Boone
In loving memory of Phyllis Marie Boone who left us peacefully on June 16, 2015 with her granddaughter by her side, and under the watchful eye and gentle care of the wonderful nurses and staff of Princess Court.
Phyllis was born on September 23, 1925 in Grand Falls, Newfoundland. She was the fourth of George and Elsie Squires six children. She immigrated to Canada in 1943 to work at Dominion Rubber in Kitchener, Ontario. It was there that Phyllis met Charlie Boone, and they were married in 1945. Phyllis moved to Wabigoon, Ontario, where they built their house and raised their three children.
In the 1960s Phyllis went to work at the tree nursery where she was welcomed into another family “The Nursery Girls”. She was the inspiration engine for a small group of willing hands and kind hearted workers, to repair and refit Saint John’s Anglican Church, and she was a dedicated care giver to her daughter Debbie, who passed away in 2006, and her husband Charlie who died in 1973. Phyllis was a pioneer who’s perseverance was tempered by love and understanding.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter Sandra Nayanookeeshik (Joe), her son Jim (Kathy), granddaughter Melanie, grandsons Dino, Darcy, Dan, Mike, Alex and Adam. Phyllis has eight great grandchildren and 2 great great grandsons.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Princess Court for the day to day, and hour by hour support Phyllis received while living there.
A private family celebration of life has taken place.
