Orest William Kocuiba
1945-2016
In loving memory of Orest William Kocuiba, aged 70 years, who passed away in his home on Saturday, June 11th, 2016.
Born and raised in Fort Frances, Orest was a positive man and looked at all in a positive light. He met and married Joanne Hogan and had two beautiful children Karen and Rob. Time passed and circumstances changed and as a single Dad Orest met the love of his life, Vickie Barnard. They married on August 19, 1989 and Orest began fathering two more children Troy and Angela. Orest loved spending time with his family.
Orest was a Mill man for most of his working life and served the Dryden Mill faithfully for 38 years. Orest loved doing part- time work and also worked at Reimer’s trucking, National Car Rental and on the dump truck for 6 months. Orest loved fishing and was a fishing and hunting fanatic. He also loved camping and four wheeling. Orest came in second place in the Walleye Masters in the late 90’s with his brother-in-law Denis and he was very proud of this achievement. Orest was also a dancer and loved many Country and Western Singers. Orest loved to kick up his heels. His great personality enabled him to meet many people over his life and he kept in touch with many.
Orest is survived by his wife, Vickie (Barnard), daughter Karen Smith (Albert), son Rob Kocuiba (Heather), son Troy Jolicouer (Donna) and daughter Angela Jolicouer, grandchildren Brittany, Corey, Megan, Reece, Rebecca, Megan and Evan, brother Carl Kocuiba (Vi), sisters Lecea Bodnar (Norman) and Margaret Kocuiba, sister-in-law Shirley Barnard (Jerome), brothers-in-law Denis Barnard (Colleen) and Rennie Barnard, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other family. Orest was predeceased by his father William and his mother Nellie along with his older brother Frank Kocuiba.
A Memorial Funeral Service to celebrate Orest’s life will be held Tuesday, June 14th, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Moffat Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home with Mardi Plomp officiating. Interment of ashes will follow at a later date.
