It was a quiet long weekend for the Ministry of Natural Resources.
Only two new fires were reported, a lightning caused one on Paradise Island in the Thunder Bay District as well as a human-caused blaze just southeast of Nakina.
The fire hazard is low across most of the region except for a moderate hazard in the southwest sector of the districts of Kenora and Fort Frances and also in the Thunder Bay and south areas.
Meantime, there are still 164 personnel battling fires in B.C., Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
The MNR is also helping by providing fire hose, sprinkler kits, pumps and chainsaws.
