Kenora MP Bob Nault is supporting a $800-million financial settlement for the victims of the 60’s Scoop.
Nault says the agreement makes sense, noting it’s the right thing to do.
He says the federal response is all part of reconciliation efforts and stresses it’s key that they move on with improved relations with First Nations.
Nault says it’s time to move beyond a tragic time in Canada’s history and look forward instead of looking in rear view mirror at the mistakes that have been made.
The 60’s Scoop saw thousands of Aboriginal kids removed from their homes and re-settled with non-Indigenous foster or adoptive homes.
