A 34-year-old Winnipeg man faces a long list of charges after being pulled over by police near Ignace for speeding.
Provincial Police say the man was unable to produce a driver’s licence and sped off, hitting a police officer in the process.
Police say a check of the licence plate showed the vehicle had been stolen from Winnipeg over the weekend.
Officers pursued the car west along the Trans-Canada highway and called in a canine unit when the driver fled into the bush.
He was located a short time later.
Trevor Wright has been charged with assaulting a police officer with a weapon, breach of probation, possession of stolen property and fleeing from police.
