A couple of federal funding announcements to support water quality programs in our area.
Todd Sellars is with the Lake of the Woods Water Sustainability Foundation and he says they are getting $251,000 as they continue efforts to reduce blue-green algae blooms.
Sellars says they have had tremendous success over the last decade to ensure the Lake of the Woods is among the world leaders in water quality.
He notes we do see seasonal algae blooms in the water and studies will continue to mitigate the damage.
Grand Council Treaty #3 is receiving $232,000 to help develop a Watershed Management Plan for the 28 communities it represents.
