The complete re-build of Ear Falls Public School remains the jewel in the 2019 capital plan for the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board.
Director of Education Sean Monteith says the drawings are complete and they are now ready to go to tender.
Monteith says the $5-million project includes both structural work and replacing the heating, cooling and ventilation systems as well as the installation of natural lighting and new windows.
He hopes to begin work on the ground this Spring.
Monteith says the project is a long time coming.
He notes the school was built in 1970 and hasn't undergone any kind of significant upgrades since that time.
Monteith says "it's a project that needs to happen. The kids in Ear Falls deserve this. The staff in Ear Falls deserve this. The community of Ear Falls deserves this!"
