Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliott says no decisions have been made regarding Health Units.
Speaking at Queen’s Park, Elliott says there are still numerous consultations to take place before anything is finalized.
Elliott says “there were some discussions that happened by phone last week with the Medical Officer of Health upon the suggestion of boundaries, but they are only suggestions.” She says discussions are on-going and talks are still needed with impacted municipalities.
Elliott also denies Health Unit’s have been kept in the dark about the government’s intentions. She stresses that’s not the case as they have been consulted and they have had conversations.
A recommendation has been made to combine the Northwestern Health Unit and Thunder Bay.
