The federal government has come through with $280,000 in funding to help female entrepreneurs in northern Ontario.
Thunder Bay-Superior North MP Patty Hajdu says the money will assist women attempting to start a business and will flow through the PARO Centre in Thunder Bay.
Hajdu says one of the biggest hurdles is finding financial backing and this will help alleviate some of the pressures.
She notes there are still hurdles that need to be addressed including helping women scale-up their business and finding new markets.
Hajdu adds gender discrimination in terms of lending is also a concern.
Hajdu adds this pool of money is part of a $10-million nationwide investment designed to help women business leaders succeed.
