CP Rail workers have a new contract ending a very short half a day strike.
Teamsters Union official John Strapac notes it’s a relief to get a deal.
“No one really wants to be on the picket line. We are all looking for a fair and equal contract and we are happy it came this quickly we thought we would be out on the picket line longer. Once we take a look at it hopefully it’s got everything we are looking for.”
The tentative four year deal still needs to be ratified, work will resume at six am Thursday across Canada.
100 to 150 local workers are covered under the tentative deal.
Meanwhile, CP also reached a tentative 3-year deal with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers who represents the company’s signal workers.
