A shift in the wind direction is posing some problems for several communities in northwestern Ontario.
Environment Canada has issued an air-quality advisory for Red Lake Ear Falls, Woodland Caribou Park, Perault Falls, Pikangikum, Pickle Lake and many other remote communities in the far north due to smoke from forest fires.
There are currently 96 forest fires burning across the region, many in the Red Lake and Sioux Lookout Districts.
The advisory goes on to say that children, seniors and those with cardio-vascular or lung disease or asthma are especially at risk.
Anyone experiencing breathing difficulties is encouraged to contact their local Health Unit office.
