Saying “stay tuned for updates,” Environment Canada has covered most of our area with a ‘severe thunderstorm watch.’
The ‘watch’ says conditions across the district are ‘favourable’ to produce severe thunderstorms that could include high winds, damaging hail and heavy rainfall.
Ominously, Environment Canada also says there is ‘risk’ of tornados early this evening or tonight.
Residents should check for updates and watch for possible ‘warnings’
Doppler radar at ckdr.net was indicating a small but severe line of storm cells tracking north east across a diagonal line from Red Lake almost to Upsala at 3 pm
The watch covers Dryden, Red Lake, Ear Falls, Sioux Lookout, Ignace, Kenora and Fort Frances. It also extends westward to Winnipeg.
