The Kenora District Services Board has received $10.2-million over two years to help create new child care spaces for Indigenous families.
Chief Administrative Officer Henry Wall says six programs will be launched in Dryden, Sioux Lookout, Red Lake and Kenora.
Wall says the investment will result in roughly 150-new full day child care spaces across the district as well as 3 new child and family centres.
He notes the spaces will be geared towards infants and toddlers as well as before and after school programming.
Wall says the allocation is the highest in all of Ontario and speaks to what happens when you establish strong partnerships.
He adds the programming will respect aboriginal culture and language in a safe and interactive environment.
