Provincial Police have released the numbers from their Festive RIDE Campaign.
A total of 587-drivers were charged with drinking and driving, with an additional 366-drivers having their license’s suspended.
That compares to 623-impaired drivers and 407-licence suspensions during the 2016-2017 blitz.
More than 9,000 RIDE checks were conducted this year, up 2,000 from the year before.
Of the 587 drivers charged, 29 were charged with drug impairment.
The campaign ran from November 24th 2017 to January 2nd 2018.
