The death of the Energy East Pipeline Project is a victory for the Council of Canadians, which is self-described as Canada's largest social action organization.
Robin Tress says they have been working a very long time to make sure the project didn't come to fruition.
Tress says the pipeline was a very big threat to a lot of waterways in Canada.
She stresses they want to live in a climate that is predictable and safe and that's why we can't keep developing fossil fuels in our country.
The Council adds that the end of Energy East shows that extreme energy projects are part of our past and not our future.
