The MP for Kenora now has a louder voice when it comes to forestry.
The Foreign Affairs and International Development Committee, which is reviewing negotiations on a new soft wood lumber agreement, has elected Bob Nault as Chair.
Nault says he will be looking for new markets and strategies to help restart the sector.
The most recent agreement between Canada and the United States expired in October 2015.
The Committee will also look at water quality
The International Joint Commission released the Lake of the Woods Basin Water Quality Plan of Study last year that identified 32 projects at a cost of nearly $8.4-million.
A big focus for Nault is working with trade partners like the United States and the European Union.
