Calls continue for the province to look at a separate infrastructure program for northern Ontario.
Municipal leaders stress their can’t afford their share of the one-third formula that’s currently in place.
NDP leader Andrea Horwath is stopping short of requesting a complete overhaul and states that the Liberal’s current plan is “cookie cutter”.
She also states that the North is unique in its needs, so it needs a unique system to address these issues.
Horwath says infrastructure isn’t the only area hurting in the north, the government is also under spending in education, affordable housing and health care.
