Most elementary schools in the region make an effort to have healthy and nutritious foods available for students.
The Northwestern Health Unit recently conducted a survey of 43 elementary schools in the Kenora and Rainy River Districts to find out what food programs each offered.
Nutrition Consultant Deb Grenier says more than half of the schools had some sort of nutrition program available for students on a daily basis.
Grenier adds the information gathered will be shared with other schools in the region.
