With a plethora of dreams left to be fulfilled and adventures to be had, Mike’s path took a new turn for journeys elsewhere on February 25th.
Mike is survived by his wife Marilyn of Wabigoon, sister Jennifer Bilsbarrow of Victoria BC, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Born September 6th, 1953 in Dryden to Rhoda and George Bilsbarrow, he and his sister Jenny spent their youth growing up sailing, skiing and travelling. He especially loved racing sailboats with his dad and spending time with his close buddies, partying, fishing and hunting.
He was a successful entrepreneur in Dryden involved in many different businesses. His favourite was the Patricia Regional Tourist Council and Northwest Design & Communication.
In 1984 he met Marilyn who became his lifelong best friend and partner. In 1987 they married and since then have worked together and travelled extensively, a passion which he was able to pursue more frequently once they retired.
Marilyn & Mike went around the world and explored many unique and exciting locations. The more exotic it was – the happier he was. Closer to home, Mike loved to spend time in the bush and on the lakes, with Peak Lake holding a special place in his heart.
Along with the natural beauty of his home, Mike found joy in sharing his knowledge with those who were interested, especially his niece Chelsea.
Mike’s in laws were very special to him and he was loved by all – especially Marilyn’s Mom Ada who professed that she would keep him if they ever got divorced. He was very close to his Uncle Bud and Mike would often reminisce about flying with him in his bi-plane.
He is wished happy travels and landings wherever his journey takes him.
A Celebration to send Mike on his New Journey will be held Thursday, March 1st, 2018 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Dryden Agricultural Centre.
