Dr. Yvon Gagnon was honoured at a special banquet in Vermilion Bay.
Dr. Gagnon is the recipient of the 2013 Council Award from the Ontario College of Physicians.
He was recognized for his contributions to community health care in Machin.
He was also thanked for his work at the Dryden Regional Health Centre.

Dryden District Chamber of Commerce 2013 Business Excellence Awards - Yvette Burns with the Second Chance Pet Network-Foster Care Program, accepts the Not for Profit Excellence award from Scott Tocholke of the Northern Lights Credit Union.
Superior International Junior Hockey League alumni Carter Hutton makes his NHL debut in Chicago's 3-1 loss to St. Louis.
Hutton, a former SIJHL top goaltender award recipient, faced 28 shots in the game.
The former Fort William North Star player had previously earned NHL call-ups with Chicago, Philadelphia and San Jose and had dressed for a number of games in which he served as the back-up.
He now becomes the second SIJHL alumni to play in a NHL game, joining Pittsburgh Penguins defenceman Robert Bortuzzo in this elite group.

Under the leadership of McMaster, the Board purchased nearly $2.3-million worth of technology for students.
Under the 21st Century Technology for Teaching and Learning Plan, students in grades 4 to 12 received their very own personal computer and every four students in kindergarten to grade three get a minimum of one iPad to share.

Kenora-Rainy River MPP Sarah Campbell presents Herb Kolmel with a Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal Friday evening in Red Lake. Kolmel was recognized with a lifetime of volunteerism and leadership in organizations like Minor Hockey, the Legion, Lions and many others. A humble Kolmel remarked that while he was honoured, he couldn't think of a single thing he had been involved in that didn't involve a dedicated committee who worked as hard as he did.
Members of the Dryden Rotary Club assist lucky bidders who won items during Rotary's 2013 Internet Auction. 203 items ranging from gift certificates and plants to a helicopter ride, sight-seeing flights and a utility trailer were auctioned off via internet bidding. While final figures haven't been made official, the auction was the most successful to date for the Dryden Rotary Club. Proceeds will go to local Rotary projects as well as some Rotary International projects.
