Emily Mae Brygidyr LeCocq In loving memory of Emily Mae Brygidyr LeCocq, age 88 years whose death occurred August 31, 2017 at Hogarth Riverview Manor in Thunder Bay.
Mae was born in Quibell Ontario on December 6, 1928, daughter to Rose and Jack Corbett, the fifth of seven children.
The family moved to Fort William shortly thereafter and she received both public and high school educations there.
In Fort William she met and in August 1948 married Edward Brygidyr.
With son Jack, they relocated to Dryden in 1951 and opened the Deluxe Shoe Repair located at 42 Earl Ave. In 1960 they moved to their newly built location at 8 Earl Ave., at which time they expanded into shoe sales as well as repairs renaming the business Ed’s Shoe Store.
In the 1960’s Mae worked for several years as a cosmetician at the Rexall Drug Store on King St. in Dryden.
In 1988, Mae was predeceased by husband Edward.
She later went on to meet and in September 1993, marry Charles LeCocq. They moved to Thunder Bay in 2001 and she was predeceased by Charlie in April 2005.
Mae was a long-time member of the Rebekah’s Lodge in Dryden. She enjoyed nature and the beauty of Northwestern Ontario and also spent several years as a member of the Dryden Golf Club.
The Late Mae LeCocq is survived and dearly missed by her only son Jack Brygidyr of Nanaimo BC, grandson Jeratt Wollner of Regina SK, granddaughter Krista Brygidyr (husband Kyle Saunders) of Victoria BC and only great grandson Malcolm Brygidyr, also of Victoria BC. Niece Terri and husband Jack Gurney of Thunder Bay were also very loved and cherished by Mae for many years of her life. She also leaves to mourn several other nieces and nephews with their families as well as from the LeCocq family Bill and Margo Owchar of Dryden and Brian and Linda Depiero of Thunder Bay.
Cremation has taken place and an interment prayer service will be held at the Dryden Cemetery Friday, September 29th at 1:00 p.m. where she will be laid to rest with her late husband Edward.
