Eileen Winnifred Wagar
May 9, 1925 – September 14, 2014
On September 14, 2014, with her family at her side, Eileen passed away at Princess Court at the age of 89, after a short illness.
She was born and raised in Wabigoon and was confirmed there in St. John’s Anglican Church in 1941. In 1943 she left Wabigoon for Niagara Falls where she was employed at Canadian Cellucation until 1945. While in Niagara Falls she met Carman Wagar and they were married in Wabigoon on June 28, 1945. They returned to Niagara Falls to live until 1947 when they moved to Dryden with their eldest daughter, Carol. In the years to come, they had two more children, a daughter, Marlene and a son, Gregory. After her children grew up Eileen returned to work and was employed at the Joy Lynne Shop, Ella Lynn and Stylerite Store.
Although her home and family were her main interests, Eileen was also very community minded. She was a Past Noble Grand of the Easter Lily Rebekah Lodge #153 and a member of the Agriculture Society, the Hospital Auxilary, the Go Getters, and the Country Crafters. She was very well known for her crafts and participated in many craft shows and was an avid submitter to many categories of the Dryden Fall Fair.
She loved camping, fishing and hunting, and she and Carman especially enjoyed fishing with family and friends at Ord Lake, Thaddeus Lake, and Fitchie Lake where they formed strong friendships with fellow campers from Northern Ontario and the United States.
Eileen is survived by two siblings Wilfred Wright (Linda) and Martin Wright (Annette), three children: Carol Fedorchuk (Syl), Marlene Wagar (Peter LeCuyer), and Gregory Wagar, eight grandchildren: Barry (Terri) Fedorchuk, Lisa (Shane) Rowat, Marcy (Scott) Warren, Holly Crawford (Michael), Marcus LeCuyer (Berinda Post), Matthew LeCuyer, Shawn (Terri-Anne) Kereliuk, Gary Kereliuk, seven great grandchildren: Cody and Callan Fedorchuk, Reese and Reegan Warren, Lanee Rowat, Jonathon and Matthew Kereliuk and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Carman, parents Jenny and Harold Wright, brothers Raymond, Arnold and Glen Wright, sisters Madeline Peters, Dorothy Trist and Myrtle Ahoff, and her daughter-in-law Cathy Kereliuk.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Luke’s Anglican Church at 1 p.m. on Friday September 19th with Archdeacon Pat Cleghorn officiating. Interment followed at the Dryden Cemetery. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of Patricia Gardens and Princess Court for the outstanding care she received while living there.
If friends so desire, donations may be made to Dryden Princess Court or Dryden Regional Hospital Oncology Unit through the Dryden Community Funeral Home, 249 Grand Trunk Avenue, Dryden, ON P8N 2X3.
