In loving memory of Doreen Stein of Ignace, Ontario born January 10, 1941 in Winkler, MB passed away peacefully Monday, September 18th, 2017 after a lengthy illness.
Doreen had spent the majority of her life in Northwestern Ontario; with the last 50 years living in Ignace.
Doreen worked many of her years in the hospitality industry, in varying capacities and formed many lifelong friendships from those experiences. Her passions were her family, with special attention to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Throughout her life Doreen has enjoyed camping, fishing, and to the end; there wasn’t a fish fry she would miss if at all possible. Doreen enjoyed reading, researching various topics, crocheting, knitting, gardening and other various hobbies and crafts over the years. Although surprising to some, Doreen loved to pick blueberries.
Doreen leaves to cherish memories and good times, Roxanne (Blaine) Mason of Sylvan Lake, AB, Connie (Scott) Anderson of Gimli, MB and Marcia Stein of Ignace. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Nicole Turgeon, Andrea (Wayne) Goetz, Christine Turgeon, Joey (Ally) Parker, Tabatha (Gordon) Parker and Pamela (Nathan) Naumann; as well as 13 great grandchildren. Doreen is survived by sister, Evelyn (Elmer) Ortmann, brothers, Dennis (Judy) Giesbrecht, Wesley (Valerie) Giesbrecht , Jim (Lynn) Giesbrecht; extended family, Pearle, Eleanor, Donna and Bill and many friends from the U.S. she considered family.
Doreen was predeceased by son, Scott in 1979, husband Morris in 1996, father, Henry Giesbrecht in 1997 and mother Helen Giesbrecht in 2010.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Mary Berglund Medical Centre and other care givers for their endless support.
A Memorial Funeral Service to celebrate Doreen’s life will be held Saturday September 23rd, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in New Life Church Ignace with Reverend Tim Barker officiating. Interment will follow in the Ignace Cemetery.
